Lena Rudnick is an award-winning writer, director, image-maker and story consultant living in the very bright city of Los Angeles. Graduating from Columbia University’s MFA directing program, Lena’s passion is telling hysterically dysfunctional relationship stories and investigating the connection between self, society and the cosmos. Her first love, a secret to most (shhh!) was experimental film and image making - and she’s never happier than when in the dark room deconstructing film. Her work has been commissioned by UNWomen, Bono’s ONE, and her series for National Sawdust recently premiered on PBS. Her feature scripts have garnered accolades from Slamdance, Austin, Oaxaca and Vancouver Women and her films have shown at Lincoln Center, Miami International Film Festival, NY International Latino Film Festival, St Tropez. She has directed music videos for the bands Late Sea and Death By Piano, as well as video content for high-end brands. Her interest in immersive nonfiction led her to develop and curate ‘The Kernel,’ a storytelling show which premiered ‘How to Survive Your Father’s Wedding.’ That story was adapted for L.A. theatre’s The Braid. Her feature film based on that story, Daddy’s Girl, is currently in development with Emmy-nominated Reka Posta producing. While Lena’s work spans genre and form, her focus on female-driven stories, her mixture of comedy and pathos, and her inspirited vision of humanity remains unyielding.
