Third Eyes

What I’m about to say

might sound ridiculous
because I don’t believe
in mindscapes or soul power,
in chakras or auras or chi
or star signs
or moon signs
or juju or karma or fate
or the third eye that sees
beyond the physical form,
but when I locked my hair
I felt as if the stars aligned,
my soul-self brought to life,
third eyes opened all over my scalp,
a fountain of midnight
anointing my head with oil,
each coil of keratin tightening,
expands me, as these
obsidian springs
propel me to God.
